About this template
Here is a playful way to turn a small victory into a big moment: the Steel Blue Ribbon Reading Buddy Award, a template that suits parents, nurseries and early-years teachers. Quando sets the title and Andika carries the details, with a ribbon giving the page its character. Children can read it themselves: the name is big and the words are friendly.
Suggested wording
Copy one of these lines into the certificate, then replace the words in brackets.
This award goes to [Name] for being brave, kind and trying your very best.
[Name] is officially Reading Buddy. Signed by [Grown-up], [Date].
Well done, [Name]! Every day you are getting bigger, braver and better.
How to customise it
You can rewrite the whole certificate; the stories shared fields are already in place, and you can delete the ones you don’t need. It works in landscape or portrait, on A4 or US Letter, without you having to move anything. The design comes with three colour schemes (Picture Book, Bedtime and Meadow), and every single colour can be changed. Change the font or the size of any line if your text is longer than the sample. You can also upload a logo or a photo and place it anywhere on the page.
Printing tips
Print it on thick card (200–250 gsm) so it survives the fridge door. In the print dialog choose “Actual size” rather than “Fit”, so the border isn’t cropped. It fits a standard certificate frame or a document folder.
